COLLECTIVE ACTION WORKSHOP SERIES
This brand-new series, which kicks off February 1st, will include four 2-hour trainings geared toward nonprofit workplaces and other community organizations, led by a skilled professional with two masters' degrees and decades of experience in activism, restorative practices, and collective care. Her name is Cat Willett and she's my amazing sister!
Cost is $100 each and each workshop is capped at 100 people. (South Sister and Mount Hood cohort discounts won't apply, as these are outside the regular series of grantwriting offerings; but members at that level will still be able to invite a second guest for the price of one!) You can also subscribe to the whole four-part series for $300. All will take place on Saturday mornings from 11 am - 1 pm PST. Recordings will be available after each workshop for anyone who pre-purchased but can't attend. Topics will include:
FEBRUARY
Beyond Massages and Mindfulness: Taking Care of Each Other (and Ourselves) in Hard Times (on sale now!)
MAY
Love Our Neighbors: Skills and Practices for Bystander Intervention
AUGUST
We Can’t Lead Where We Won’t Go: Power and Privilege Issues at Work
NOVEMBER
TBD
Beyond Massages and Mindfulness: Taking Care of Each Other (and Ourselves) in Hard Times
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2025 (11 am - 1 pm PST)
Learn new tools to address burnout on the individual, relational, and organizational level. Participants will leave with a basic plan to assess individual and organizational burnout and increase resilience personally and systemically. $100 per person (or 2 people for South Sister & Mount Hood cohort members). Facilitated by Cat Willett.
GRANTWRITING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES
New Year, new schedule! Let's funnel our January energy (and our inauguration rage) into focused action. We've got lots going on, with workshops scheduled through March and even more to come. All offerings are $200 for three hours (with 50% discounts for members of the South Sister cohort, if that entices you to upgrade your membership!) and will include a Q&A at the end. They will be offered via Zoom (link provided prior to class date). All dates below are Pacific time.
PROSPECT RESEARCH WORKSHOPS
By far the most common question to come out of this summer's grantwriting 101 classes was some variation of "Where do I find which grants I should apply for?" In this cozy, hands-on workshop, we will go over some of the basic tools of prospect research before diving in together in real time; I'll share my screen as we put on our detective hats and go digging through the internet to try and chase down at least one real, new lead for everyone in the class. The first iteration of this last fall was a lot of fun and I found several things for everyone. Since then, some amazing folks on Bluesky have sent me links to two huge databases of grant funders specifically for organizations and programs that are progressive, justice-oriented and/or serve marginalized communities. I haven't had the chance to go through them in detail yet, but we'll go exploring together! To ensure that everyone gets hands-on time, I'm capping each session at 10 participants; but I'm offering three different dates, in the hopes that one of these works for everyone!
SATURDAY, JANUARY 18TH (10 am - 1 pm PST)
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH (10 am - 1 pm PST)
SATURDAY, MARCH 8TH (10 am - 1 pm PST)
If these don't work, now there's a new option: private workshops!
If you're starting from scratch and want to try to generate as many grant prospects as possible, your organization might want a full three hours just on research for you and your programs. We can do that! The cost is $1,000 per workshop, which is the cost for five people, but you can invite up to 40. Dates to be scheduled by mutual agreement after purchase.
GRANTWRITING FOR BEGINNERS
I'm retiring my Grants 101 Master Class, because 8th House members will be receiving the slideshow portions of the class soon as video recordings. However, the live three-hour class, which includes a folder of Google Sheets documents and a tour of how to use them, and a Q&A which can be custom-tailored to any topic, will be available for private groups to schedule at any time. If you have friends at other nonprofits who want to get together for a learning session, if you'd like to send your whole board through a rigorous fundraising training, if you have multiple staff who all work together on grants and you want to make sure everyone is on the same page . . . this just might work for you!
This class is geared toward beginners, starting with how to collect and assemble the foundational building blocks of a grant, through all my best tips and tricks (how do you make your application stronger? what are the most common reasons grants get declined?), culminating in a guided tour through the tools I use for my own work like calendar tracking and sample budgets, and ending with a Q&A where I tackle everybody's questions.
The cost is $1,000 per workshop, which is the cost for five people, but you can invite up to 40. Dates to be scheduled by mutual agreement after purchase.
WORK WITH ME ONE ON ONE!
You may have a project that doesn't fit into any of these boxes; maybe you need help with a big grant that's coming up, or you've been through the Prospect Research workshop and now you want help building a calendar. Maybe you got a big grant last year (yay!) and are panicking because the report is due.
I can help!
On a very limited basis, throughout the year as my time permits, I'll open up a few slots for five hours of one-on-one time with Claire to be spent however you wish! Projects may include assistance with prospect research, grant or report writing, developing a grants calendar, reviewing grant narrative, teaching/coaching staff or board, or other projects by mutual agreement. Limit 2 at a time; if you have a project that takes more than 10 hours, that would fit under a more conventional client contract and I'm not available for anything on that scale at this time. If you're interested, the purchase link is below and I'll reach out afterwards for details!
(Please note that for anything with a hard deadline, I require at least 30 days' notice, ideally 45-60; I can't tag in to save you from a huge grant that's due tomorrow.)
